About Contour
Contour is an outdoor journal for people who feel the pull of landscape but don’t necessarily identify as hikers, climbers, or adventurers. It’s for anyone who has stood on a hill and felt something shift — something quiet and hard to name — and wanted to explore that feeling further.
The writing here covers three threads: field notes from walks and journeys, practical guides tested in real conditions, and reflections on why time spent outdoors matters. None of it is about conquering peaks or collecting miles. It’s about paying attention.
About the Author
I walk, mostly in Scotland and occasionally further. I’m not fast, I’m not particularly skilled, and I don’t own the right jacket for most conditions. But I keep going outside, and I keep finding that the world makes more sense when I do.
Contour started as a notebook — a way to process what I was seeing and feeling on the trail. It became this site when I realised other people were having the same quiet conversations with landscape, and that maybe it was worth writing them down.
